Positions

WMC is constantly seeking qualified and highly motivated individuals to supplement or expand our staff. Some of the positions which are highly sought are as follows.

Structural Engineers: Entry level and junior level engineers. Entry level engineers should be recent college graduates possessing a BSCE with a distinct focus on structural engineering and demonstrating a desire to work in the field of bridge engineering. Junior level should be highway bridge engineers possessing a BSCE and two to four years of hands-on experience in structural design, particularly designing interstate highway or local road bridges using AASHTO, ConnDOT and FHWA criteria. Experience and working knowledge of bridge load rating, as well as AutoCADD and Bentley design software is a plus.

Hydraulic Engineers; Senior level engineers with experience in hydrology and hydraulic engineering as it relates to bridge, dam, subdivision and general civil design projects. Applicants should possess six to eight years of hands-on experience in this discipline and working knowledge of HECRAS, TR-55 and/or other similar hydrologic, hydraulic and drainage engineering design software. Previous approval as a hydraulic engineer by the Connecticut Department of Transportation is a significant plus.

CADD Operators/Civil Engineering Technicians: Entry level or junior level CADD operators and engineering technicians. Entry level positions require good basic skills in AutoCADD, a positive work attitude and a strong desire to excel. Junior level technicians should possess at least three years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in bridge, roadway and/or in site design with preparation of construction drawings and documents for civil projects. Proficiency in civil engineering design/drafting software such as AutoCADD, Microstation, OpenRoads, etc. is a plus.

Construction – Chief Inspectors: Must meet all ConnDOT requirements for chief inspector including NICET Level III Certification or a PE license, six years experience in bridge or highway engineering, three of which must be in a supervisory capacity of ConnDOT highway, bridge or rail construction inspection activities. NETTCP inspector certifications in HMA paving, concrete and soils/aggregate, as well as ACI field testing certifications are a plus. A Bachelors Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering may be substituted for two years of general experience.
