Harwinton Lake Dam – To update this aging earthen embankment dam which had been under a DEEP repair order for several years, a completely new bridge and main spillway were installed, as well as a new low level outlet and increased spillway capacity using multiple precast culverts and articulated block slope protection. Since the dam is owned by the Harwinton Lake Association, but it is a town road that runs along the top of the dam, WMC was able to arrange for 80% Federal funding for the project with the Association picking up the 20% “Town” share. A win-win for for the Town and the Association and some great cooperation from the State DOT and the Federal Highway.
